Sr. Quality and Safety Engineer

 

REporting TO:          Quality Manager

 

overview:     

Manage quality, reliability and safety compliance activities during the New Product Introduction (NPI) process to ensure that products, meet and/or exceeds, worldwide safety, chemical and performance requirements, deliver optimal product reliability, and fulfill customer expectations for the product. This position will also monitor product performance in the field and pose improvements as required and use the information to anticipate and prevent issues on future products.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • At concept stages of develop, conduct FMEA and other reviews to create a template for qualification requirements for downstream stages of testing.
  • Perform as QA core team member on project teams.
  • As part of the new product introduction team (NPI), attend team meetings and lead all quality, safety and reliability activities and requirements
  • Coordinate internal and external testing as required and planned for the development stage.
  • Act as liaison during customer trials to facilitate the process.
  • Coordinate and arrange for appropriate retailer requirements to access test and compliance reports.
  • Key interface for hand off to Asia team members on program for continuity and coordinate of task completion.
  • Analyze customer return and complaints plus issue an monitor corrective action requests.
  • Provide packaging labeling specifications for new toys and interact with the packaging department as required.
  • Ensure all testing is completed successfully prior to releasing production or customer shipments.
  • Travel as needed to suppliers and or customers. (approximately 25% )
  • Liaise with worldwide bodies (CPSC, etc.) in resolving regulatory disputes; coordinate required activities promptly and effectively.
  • Work closely with other functional groups such as Design, Marketing, Customer Care, Sales, Planning and other divisions in Asia and Europe.
  • Other task as assigned related to the domain knowledge of QA and the Toy industry.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum 10 years relevant experience in Quality engineering for product safety and reliability.
  • Toy industry experience.  Consumer electronic experience may support this need depending on product lines.
  • Desirable experience in areas of mechanical, electro-mechanical, or manufacturing engineering disciplines.  
  • Compliance experience with agency standards for safety or other similar requirements.
  • Superior program team and project management skills.
  • Problem solving abilities and root cause analysis experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.

$90k + bonus
