We are seeking a Sr. Preliminary Engineer to provide expertise in the early stages of product development.&nbsp; Reporting to the&nbsp;Director of Engineering,&nbsp;the Sr. Preliminary Engineer will work with Marketing and Design to help evaluate the feasibility of new product concepts from an engineering perspective.&nbsp; In addition, the Sr. Preliminary Engineer will define how a toy should function consistent with agreed Marketing and Design feature and performance objectives, quality and safety requirements, launch timing and cost constraints
&nbsp;
Responsibilities:
&middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Work the Marketing and Design during product selection to ensure products are feasible from an engineering perspective
&middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Participate in business and product strategy development&nbsp;&nbsp; 
&middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Participate in product brainstorming.
&middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Guide Marketing and Design teams with respect to optimizing product content and features
&middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Ensure preliminary design turnovers maximize the best design solutions given the constraints of selling price, target cost and margins
&middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Examine parts/components to ascertain purpose, cost and value by utilizing knowledge of product design, development and cost engineering.&nbsp; Integrate budgetary considerations into evaluations.
&middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Develop working products based on performance criteria and functional design specs
&middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Review proposed materials and functional designs against Marketing and Design requirements 
&middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Work with Costing Engineer to achieve target costs for new products
&middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Drive preliminary design phase of product development to required milestones that support on time product launch dates
&middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Improve the quality of the release packages to the Far East office.
&middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Work closely with Far East Engineering and Procurement to ensure preliminary design turnovers are feasible for manufacturing
&middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Assist Manufacturing/Engineering in trouble shooting products before and after turnover to the Far East office, including on&ndash;site support as needed.
&middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Stay current on relevant technology.
&middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Drive patented design solutions.

Qualifications:
&middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 5-10 years in Preliminary Product Design within the toy industry
&middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Demonstrated ability to provide strong leadership to drive innovative yet cost-effective design solutions. 
&middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Experience managing creative and engineering professionals both within and outside the company
&middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment
&middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Technical skill in leveraging a broad array of computer-aided design programs.
&middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
